About Joan Renee
Joan Renee Cervino is a graduate of Kent
State University's School of Fashion
Design and Merchandising. Upon
entering the fashion industry, she
completed an internship with Linda Allard
for Ellen Tracy in NYC and then attended a
patternmaking workshop in Paris, France.
Joan Renee spent the next six years as a
Women's Senior Designer with
Abercrombie & Fitch.
Throughout her years with Abercrombie,
she vigorously researched the direction of
each new season through evaluation of
reports from trend analysts and through
travel to LA, NYC and Europe. She also
visited pattern houses in NYC to source
new prints and patterns for the season.
Joan Renee spent each season sourcing
new fabrics and trims through visits to
mills in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South
Korea. Her expertise in correctly fitting a
garment originates from her experience
directing fit sessions with technical
designers to approve the perfect fit.
Her years of vast experience in the
fashion industry have given her the
extensive knowledge of fabrics, style,
color and trend and the ability to translate
them appropriately for the target
customer. She has the necessary skills to
research the appropriate silhouette, fabric
and color intended for an individual's
personal style. She maintains the
philosophy that the key to a successful
wardrobe requires garments that fit
appropriately and flatter a figure with
styles that compliment an individual's
lifestyle.
She has researched numerous stores
throughout northeast Ohio and stays in
contact with the shops to continuously
review new items. She also conducts
additional research on an ongoing basis
to stay on top of the latest fashions. As a
personal shopper and wardrobe stylist,
Joan Renee consistently finds the items
clients request and transforms closets
into sanctuaries of "wearable" outfits.
History of Shopgirl
Upon receiving her first sewing machine at the age
of 12, Joan Renee's passion for clothes and the
fashion industry blossomed. She mastered the
understanding of the construction of garments and
began designing her own outfits. After pursuing
and living her dream of a fashion designer, Joan
Renee married and settled back in her hometown
of Akron, Ohio.
She returned to northeast Ohio and brought with
her years of knowledge and a steadfast love of
fashion. After gaining hands-on experience in the
world of fashion, Joan Renee launched her dream
business. She wanted to ease women's
frustrations with their wardrobes and teach them
how to choose items and outfits that flatter their
figures and lifestyles, and ultimately learn to love
their clothes in their closets.
Shopgirl has since expanded to working with
women of all ages who are searching for
wardrobes that compliment their evolving lifestyles.
Joan Renee understands that all women want and
need to feel beautiful and comfortable in their
clothes. Shopgirl's goal is to help women achieve
wardrobes that portray their individual beauty and
realistically reflect their day-to-day lives.
